Mucky Muck Stuff (Policies)

“We”, “us”, “our” refer to the owner of the mathmisery.com (the “website”), not who hosts it. “You” refers to any entity, living or not living, that visits this website. If you disagree, in part, or in whole with what is written below, please leave this website.

Privacy Matters

This is the internet. Notice that the “i” is not capitalized. The internet has been around long enough now. IP addresses are logged. We reserve the right to block IP addresses specifically or in bulk. We don’t purposefully share any user information. We do not send emails requesting password or user information. If your user info has been compromised and you believe the leak was from this website, please let us know. We ask that users safeguard their information just the same. If our system is compromised as a result of user activity, we reserve the right to terminate the account and / or pursue the matter legally.

Posts, comments, comment moderation

No “advice” on this website should be assumed to be directed at any individual or entity. In fact, as a general catch-all, anything that sounds like “advice” is opinion and you shall not hold us liable in any form for listening, following, or otherwise propagating “advice” given on this website. If you would like advice, we can be hired in that regard.

Comments are moderated. If a comment looks like spam, it won’t be accepted. Without entering into an itemized account of what types of comments are accepted and what aren’t, these general guidelines should suffice:

  • Don’t post anything criminal or libelous.
  • Don’t reveal another person’s contact information.
  • Do post about the blog topic. “I love your blog!” (see the “Best Of Spam” page) will more often than not be seen as spam.
  • Disagreeing is not discouraged and comments won’t be denied simply because they disagree with the post or another user. However, threatening another user or otherwise acting in an hostile manner is not allowed.
  • Human language is discrete; human emotions are in, some sense, continuous. Human language is most often written or spoken; human emotions are felt regardless of the communication medium. What sounds perfectly fine spoken, doesn’t always come out as eloquently when written. Choose your words reasonably wisely. And if someone is offended, try to explain yourself more clearly.
  • In general, be nice, play nice, and take it easy. This is a math website.

If you happen to see an unacceptable comment that somehow made it beyond the human comment filter, please let us know.
